
A little about me
Maria Rabbia is an accomplished collaborative pianist and vocal coach, hailed for her versatility, musical sensitivity, and commitment to championing underrepresented voices in classical music. A native of Central New York, she earned her Doctor of Musical Arts in Collaborative Piano from Boston University in 2024, studying under renowned pedagogue Shiela Kibbe.
Maria’s work has taken her across the U.S. and Europe, with notable engagements at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, IC Opera Studio, International Performing Arts Institute in Germany, The Voice Institute of the Finger Lakes, Opera Company of Middlebury, Opera Ithaca, and the Trentino Music Festival in Italy. In the greater Boston area, Maria maintains a thriving private studio at the Cambridge Music Consortium and is a collaborative pianist for VOICES Boston Children’s Chorus. Her artistry and pedagogy reflects both technical excellence and a deep dedication to inclusive, meaningful musical storytelling.
At Boston University, Maria was a frequent contributor to the Opera Institute, performing as répétiteur, continuo player, and orchestral pianist for numerous productions. A passionate advocate for equitable programming, she curated all five of her doctoral recitals around lesser-known and historically marginalized composers.
Recent highlights include work with Boston Opera Collaborative on their immersive Opera Inferno, a double bill of The Telephone and La voix humaine, and Hänsel und Gretel. She also appeared with the Annex Orchestra in their second cycle concert.
